Have you ever received a product to try and felt immediately that you might regret this, because eventually you have to give it back and won’t have it anymore? That’s how my journey with the Mountain Buggy® nano urban™ really started!
Travelling as a solo-mum on my own for the journey from our home in New Zealand back to my home in Japan with my incredibly active 17 month old toddler, Reiha, I was really nervous how to keep her from running off, causing chaos, and having to chase her through a terminal but the nano urban™ was the real MVP of the journey!
Reiha has grown up in her Mountain Buggy® cosmopolitan™ at home, having used it from the very beginning so I was so glad she adjusted almost as soon as we had nano urban™ in the house. Immediately treating it like she does every bit of furniture – like a piece of playground equipment to be explored, climbed on, over, through, under and pushed around.
Her comfort in the buggy was exactly what we needed to make the journey smooth, because while I was doing my best as a solo-travelling-mum – she was happy to stay chilling in the buggy through security and boarding planes where I could (after some practice) pretty successfully hold on to her while collapsing the buggy to be put in the overhead locker. Then while standing around in queues or walking the long distances between terminals and gates, having her in a buggy where she was comfortable to watch the world go by or sleep if she needed to, was perfect. The travel was so much easier and simpler thanks to being able to bring the buggy from check-in, to the plane, to the train, and then the walk home from the station in Japan.
Once we arrived, we had an amazing month in early Autumn with summer like temperature for our whole stay. It was great being able to relax and let her Grandma take care of both of us! The nano urban™ was a great size for our little Japanese house, folding up in the entrance when not in use. It even fit perfectly in our tiny Japanese car and was a breeze to navigate onto the trains and get around stations and shops in the crowded urban streets of Japan. The gorgeous and eye-catching Year of the Snake pattern was so fun to have as well, it was tough to keep it a secret when I just wanted to post pictures all the time.

Reiha loved having ‘her space’ in the buggy – it was like a piece of home she had with her whenever she wanted a nap, or a safe space from which she could explore all the amazing sights of an unfamiliar place. I really loved the way the mesh back opened right up for her to keep cool during naps in the heat of those Autumn Japanese days – something we only really need in mid-summer in New Zealand where it’s not often that hot.

It was so light and compact – the perfect travel companion! Her Grandma could easily use it as well to take her for walks around the neighbourhood and I was confident she’d be safe and not have any difficulties. The only thing I might have done differently for next time, is just use it as a small travel buggy. The larger urban wheels were great to have for exploring Japan, but they did occupy quite a bit of precious luggage space that I was right on the limit of. The nano urban™ still travels so well on the small wheels, that next time I might just use it in travel mode the whole time and have more room for souvenirs in the suitcase!
All in all a fantastic time with family and a journey made so much smoother thanks to the Mountain Buggy nano urban™! The MVP travel companion! I’d definitely use it again – and even did keep using it for a while when we got home! It is so easy to take on an outing and fits easily in the car. A real everyday buggy
Thank you, MB!
